Vietnam's petrol import falls in 4 months

HANOI, May 4 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam imported nearly 2.9 million tons of various kinds of oil and petroleum products totaling over 1.7 billion U.S. dollars in the first four months of this year, seeing respective year-on-year decreases of 35.2 percent and 39 percent, its Ministry of Industry and Trade said on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the country imported 564,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) worth 309 million U.S. dollars, up 20.6 percent in volume and up 19 percent in value against the same period last year.

Vietnam also spent 292 million U.S. dollars importing other products made from oil, down 11.4 percent.

The country spent over 7.6 billion U.S. dollars importing nearly 11.4 million tons of various kinds of oil and petroleum products in 2018, down 12.1 percent in volume but up 7.8 percent in value against 2017, according to its General Statistics Office.

Vietnam also spent 841 million U.S. dollars importing more than 1.4 million tons of LPG in 2018, gaining respective year-on-year increases of 18.3 percent and 4.9 percent.
