Domestic revenue stood at some 315.4 trillion Vietnamese dong (13.7 billion U.S. dollars), rising by 13.8 percent against the same period last year, according to the country's Ministry of Finance on Monday.

Import-export activities contributed 80.8 trillion Vietnamese dong (3.5 billion U.S. dollars) to the state budget, up 17.6 percent on-year.

Between January and March, Vietnam's budget spending stood at 315.6 trillion Vietnamese dong (over 13.7 billion U.S. dollars), up 7.6 percent on-year. As a result, budget surplus was 65.4 trillion Vietnamese dong (more than 2.8 billion U.S. dollars), said the ministry.

This year, Vietnam aims to lower its budget deficit to 220 trillion Vietnamese dong (9.6 billion U.S. dollars) or 3.6 percent of projected gross domestic product from the 3.7 percent last year, according to the country's top legislature.
