YANGON, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- A total of 100 illegal Myanmar migrant workers detained in Thailand have been repatriated to homeland under the arrangement of the two countries' authorities, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported Thursday.

The Myanmar migrant workers including 18 women returned to Kawthoung, Kayin state by boat through Ranong, Thailand on Wednesday.

The migrant workers, respectively from Tanintharyi, Yangon, Bago and Magway regions and Mon, Rakhine and Chin states, were brought back to their homes after being scrutinized to ensure they are free of drug, non-link to terrorism, non-involvement in making counterfeit kyat notes, non-carriage of weapons or explosive materials and non-criminals, the report said.

Last Saturday, some 15 Myanmar illegal migrant workers were also sent back home by the Thai authorities as their border passes expired. They were handed over to Myanmar's Tachileik authorities in Shan state-East through the Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge-2 .

Moreover, in November, a total of 73 Myanmar nationals, smuggled to Thailand by brokers with illegal jobs offer, were also sent back by the Thai authorities to Myawaddy, a border town with Thailand in Kayin state.
