NEW DELHI, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- India Thursday said that it held national security advisor-level talks with Pakistan in Thailand last month.

The Indian External Affairs Ministry said that National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met his Pakistani counterpart Nasir Khan Janjua in Bangkok in December last year, confirming to media reports about such talks.

"Talks were held on how to rid this region of the scourge of terrorism, how to ensure that terrorism doesn't affect this region. I think we raised the issue of cross-border terrorism (with Pakistan) in those talks," Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar told the media in Delhi.

India and Pakistan have fought at least three major wars over the disputed territory of Kashmir, which both countries claim in full.

Talks between the two countries have been stalled on a number of occasions, one being after an attack on an Indian Air Force base in 2016. India blamed Pakistani militants for the attack, but Islamabad denied the claim.
