PARIS, April 10 (Xinhua) -- French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday said he would announce "in coming days" a decision on alleged use of chemical arm against civilians in rebel enclave of Eastern Ghouta in Syria earlier this month.

"We will continue exchanges of technical and strategic information with our partners in particular Britain and America, and in the coming days we will announce our decision," Macron said.

At the joint press meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, French president stressed that France "does not want any escalation in the region," but a "strong and common response" would be decided if investigation would prove the use of toxic gas in Syria.

On Saturday, activists said the Syrian government used chlorine gas while bombing Douma, the last rebel-held area in the Eastern Ghouta countryside of Damascus.

The Syrian government rejected the claims, denying being in possession of such weapons.

The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) said earlier on Tuesday that it would send "shortly" its experts to the Syrian town of Douma to investigate.
